RIHMS Background

The name RIHMS originates from Tanzania College of Early Education (TCoEE) which was established in 2000 and registered by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training with No. CU. 57 under Education Act No. 25 of 1978 sect. 26 (3)on 03^rd August, 2004. The College’s foundation stone was blessed and laid on 10^th August 2007 by His Grace Mons. Joseph Clennoth, Apostolic Nuncio to Tanzania, dedicating it to the transformation of human hearts believing the ‘Heart of Education is Education of the Heart’. The college stands on Plot No.8 with 120 acres on the Government Registered Plot No. 99910 Msambiazi Villageoff Ambangulu Mountains Korogwe, Tanga – Tanzania.

The College’s major purpose was to recruit, train and upgrade responsible mature young men and women for teaching profession of Christian frame and practice, specializing in Early Childhood studies in defense of child rights to life and development. The college also conducted in – service courses for young men and women of patience and interest in working competently, safely, friendly and effectively with children from birth to eight (08) years through “Competence Building Network for Early Childhood Education in South and East Africa”under Queen Maud’s University College of Early Childhood Education, Trondheim Norway coordinated by then Anne Sine. Consequently, the collaboration spread over to Agder University of Health Sciences and Sports, Grimstad, coordinated by then Prof Carl Bachke and Durham University (UK) with Prof. David Galloway Sadly, both the government’s high set entry requirements and the people’s stigma over Early Childhood profession, the planned programs could not thrive as the students abundant the classes.

Thus, the name Tanzania College of Early Education was changed to St. Rock College of Early Education after being granted a Full Registration status by National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) vide Reg. No. TLF/005 effective 10^th Sept, 2013to offer Training in Teaching and Learning Facilitation (NTA level 4-6)programs in Early Childhood up to Ordinary Diploma.

It is in this context, the Board of Trustees of RMET recommended the college’s change of direction despite the invested hugeeducational resources for the early years. In an attempt to fit and utilize the resource already available Rock Institute of Human Life Management Studies was born and officially granted Full Registration Status with No. BTP/126 by National Council for Technical, Vocational Educationand Training (NACTE now NACTVET).The Institute is intended to offer multidisciplinary programs focused on working diverse skills in:Social Sciences and Humanities including: Community Development and Early Childhood Management,Business Administration, Tourism & Planningup to Ordinary Diploma (NTA 4 – 6 Level).

RIHMS also undertakes to develop and provide the following short foundations courses:-Intermediate English Course, Infants Nurturing Methods, Customer Care Services, Billings Ovulation Methods, Nature Environmental Health, Computer Application & ICT Studies, Music and Movement ie: Guitar, Piano Music, Video & Audio  Production, Shooting and  Graphics.

In short, RIHMS is committed to the development and Management of Human Life through the development of diverse working skills in all its fullness. Our Institute’smajor objectiveis to promote the socio - economic and sustainability to eliminate extreme poverty and inequality among the increasing numbers of young parent’s mothers, single parents and or female employees in productive sectors, who are most and critically in need of qualified personnel to attend their childrens’ from conception and beyond.
